Radhika’s story
I witnessed a Playback Theatre performance around ten years back and since then, I have been hooked. Perhaps it was my love for stories, that I have carried with me since my childhood, that initially pulled me into this world but over the years it opened up a wonderful path of discovery. The different applications that Playback Theatre can have, and the excitement to explore these, led me to start my own company – First Drop Theatre – in 2015, in Bangalore, India.

Originally from Jaipur, the pink city of India, I am currently nested in Bangalore. When not immersed in the world of Playback Theatre I enjoy hiking even if coming down from a height scares me, reading crime stories to wind down at the end of the day, listening to stories about the supernatural at bedtime, and trying to match up to the energy of my dog, Fido
Steve’s story
Playback Theatre found me in 1991 when I became a founder member of the York Company in the North of England. I was immediately taken by the way it explores, affirms, connects and celebrates ordinary (and extraordinary) human experience. For many years the roles of musician and actor were my main focus; more recently I’ve grown into conducting, training and leadership. I have been very fortunate to meet, create and study with Playbackers from many different countries, and since 2020 this has included numerous online collaborations.

I live and work in Newcastle upon Tyne, the most northerly city in England, and I enjoy playing music, cooking for friends and family, and walking in the hills or by the sea.
